Once upon a time (1966-86) the now Curtin University was a technical college, named "WAIT"—Western Australian Institute of Technology. In 1987 tthe college metamorphosed into a university to serve the expanding needs of the Perth and Western Australian populations for a good education. The logo for WAIT was a convoluted piece of twisted metal. A copy of this now exists on the grounds of Curtin U, not too far from the main entrance, as a remembrance of its earlier days.
