New Lexington, now Arcadia Cemetery, became a cemetery around the fall of 1827, on land which belonged to Thomas Dinwiddie. During that fall, he buried a small child of his here and planted a Weeping Willow tree at the head of the baby's grave. This cemetery is still active and very well maintained.
