This marker stone is located at the easternmost platform inside the railway station of Olten. The large zero above the cross symbolizes the center of the Swiss railway system.

The stone is usually called "0 kilometer stone", but the unit was "hours" (an hour was 16,000 French feet; a distance, not a time unit, about 4.8 kilometers). The "Stunde Null-Stein" was the official center marker from 1856 until 1875, when the units were converted to the metric system and the zero marker defined at the headquarter of the railway company at this time in Basel. So today the stone is at 39.292 kilometers.
