A memorial to Anthelme Tozet, who planted many of the trees along Quay street, including the native plum tree which commemorates his effort.

Anthelme Thozet (1826 - 1878), French born botanist
and distinguished citizen of Rockhampton from 1858,
propagated these native plum trees (Pleiõgynium
timorense, Aboriginal name Rancooran) in his
experimental gardens and planted them on Quay Street
in 1867.
