In the old town of Koblenz one can find a number of statues which are set up in memory of some "special" and unforgotten citizens ("Originale"). The Shoemaker Hennrich Resch, who lived in the second half of the 19th century, is probably the most famous of them.
He loved to play pranks on people and wasn't afraid of the authorities. Once he is said to have marched through Koblenz, playing a military march on a drum, whereupon everyone appeared on the parade ground. His sentence was six weeks strict arrest.

The statue is in life size and made of bronze. It shows Hennrich Resch marching with a drum. In front of it there is a plaque which says (in the local dialect): "Zivilkurasch, vur keinem bang, voll Witz, Humor - och frech - datt wor bei ons in Kowelenz dä Schoster Hennerich Resch!" (Full of courage, wit and humor - these were the qualities of Shoemaker Hennrich Resch from Koblenz)
