This marker near Graham (NC) commemorates the February, 1781 bloodbath where American forces slaughtered about 100 colonists loyal to England, under the leadership of Col. John Pyle.

The related web link gives a detailed account of the skirmish. It is said there is a stone monument at the site of the battle. I have seen a photo of the stone, but I do not know the exact location.
Marker erected: 1939.
Directions to marker: From I-85, take NC-49 (Maple Avenue) south about a mile to Anthony Road, and marker on the right, in front of an auto repair business.
