Visitors to the historic town of Port Gamble are inundated with historical elements throughout the township. Almost every building in this town contains a historical marker that highlights the history of prior occupants. Each marker stands out nicely on painted burgundy boards and gold lettering. This historic former residence contains a marker on the front fence that reads:

Built
1900-1901
Morrill S. Pope House

This house was barged over from Port Ludlow after 1929.
At Port Ludlow, this was Morrill Pope's house, who was
supervisor of the mill. This house replaces the earlier John
Seavey house that had stood here since 1870.

The only other information I could locate from the NRHP nomination form is that this house is listed as 'House No. 9' on the form and one of a number of houses that were relocated from nearby Port Ludlow. The cost to move it was $1895.34 and it had a bathtub. The house was built c. February 1900 to July 1901 by Charles Palmer. Built in Port Ludlow, this house and other houses were barged to Port Gamble sometimes after 1921 as employment at Ludlow dropped or after the mill there closed in 1935.

This structure is currently home to the 'Orbea Sign Company'.
