Bell was in the tower of the Brighton Town Hall until it was destroyed by a tornado in 1973.
The bell was erected in 1884 and was in continuous use until 13 July, 1973. It was salvaged from the wreckage and put on permanent display in the new Town Square park on the site of the old Town Hall.
