This marker was placed in 1968 by the Historical Committee of the Baptist Convention of Maryland. One could speculate this brick shot tower is a special magnet for historical markers as there are four of them congregated here, seemingly arbitrarily. This one is about a church which seems to have no association with this NRHP site. The sign reads:

1773
The First Permanent Meeting House, a Dwelling
For the Pastor and a School House Were Erected
And a Cemetery Established for The
First Baptist Church of Baltimore Town.
The Present and Fourth Building of the Church
Is Located at 4200 Liberty Heights Avenue.
