Plana town is situated close to the well-known spa resort Mariánské Lázne and nearby another spa called Konstantinovy Lázne.

Silver, lead, copper, and bismuth mines in Plana have been known since preHussite (visit link) times. In later chronicles silver mines below the Plana Castle and underneath the town are mentioned.
