Der Eschenburgpfad startet am Parkplatz am Friedhof in Nanzenbach. Hier ist auch ein Wanderportal – eine Informationsstation – eingerichtet. Der Eschenburgpfad wendet sich zunächst westlich in Richtung Oberberg (479m) und knickt hier nordwärts ab, um die Eschenburg zu erreichen.
Ab der Eschenburg mit ihrem beeindruckenden Ausblick wendet sich die Rundwanderung westlich durch die Meerbachstannen zum Sportplatz Eiershausen bis kurz vor den Einstieg ins Schwarzbachtal. Der Eschenburgpfad führt jetzt wieder zurück ins Tal und biegt am Westhang des Appersbergs (525m) ab zum Ausgangspunkt der Tour in Nanzenbach.
