On 161 Gallowgate in Glasgow this modest looking fish and chips restaurant is located. It claims to be the oldest in town. And perhaps the smallest as well? It has space for about 10 people to sit down and have their meal served. I visited the place in 2009 and it was a great experience: local people came by and picked up a meal. Mostly as a take-away. But some choose to sit down and have a break and a lunch. I was together with two of my friends (we are from Denmark) and we wanted to try something really local and authentic. A gentleman was sitting next to us having his lunch. We said hello to each other. Shortly after he left, the waitress told us, that the man had paid our bill in advance. He probably felt so flattered about us eating at his local place!
It's a really nice place, clean and cosy and the food is just as it is supposed to be on a place like this.
