The Taylor Burying Ground is the final resting place of Colonel Thomas Taylor, a Revolutionary War veteran, whose land was bought by the State of South Carolina for the City of Columbia. His son, was the first mayor of Columbia, later was Governor of South Carolina, and then served in the US House of Representatives and then US Senate is also buried in this small cemetery. Other members of the Taylor family and their slaves are also buried in the cemetery. There are a total of 38 marked graves in the cemetery.
