While not directly used in the production of crops, the buggy was an important item of transportation for rural inhabitants. It took them to church in town or to visits with neighbors when dressed in their "Sunday best" and riding a horse would not have been appropriate. It might have also been used for quick trips to town to pick up a few items that were needed immediately from the "convenience" (general) store that couldn't wait for a trip with the big wagon. The marker at the buggy reads:

Buggy

The buggy was the automobile of the Horse-drawn Era. It was drawn by one horse or a team. Owners took great pride in their buggies, teams and harnesses. Thomas Sirls Terry, in his later life, used a buggy extensively in his travels between households.

This buggy has been provided by the Ed Terry Family, who was a son of Thomas Sirls and Hannah Terry.
