Built to the south of the cricket pavilion and outside the perimeter of the cricket pitch, this is an octagonal bandstand raised above the surrounding ground level by seven steps. It is of cast iron construction, the eight pillars are of a fluted design with a frieze of intertwined foliage below the roof-line. Cast iron railings are on seven sides between the pillars. The roof is of corrugated steel and the underside is filled in to make a flat ceiling. The whole is raised on a concrete base with the seven steps of marble.
Fixed to the base on the side facing the cricket pitch is a plaque with the following wording:
EDWARD VII.,
Crowned Aug.9th,1902.
MASTERTON CORONATION
MEMORIAL.
VIVAT REX!
P.L.Hollings, Mayor.
