The postcard shows the then newly built Bülow-Kaserne at Detmolder Strasse in 1938, when it was used by the German Wehrmacht. After WW II, the British army took over, called it Ripon Barracks and had troops there until 1994. Then they left, returned it to the German authorities, and military use had come to an end. On the open space of the area private homes have been built and the large old buildings now accomodate the Georg Müller School, a fundamental Christian comprehensive school.

Die Postkartenansicht von 1938 zeigt die damals noch neue Bülow-Kaserne der Wehrmacht an der Detmolder Straße. Nach dem 2. Weltkrieg wurde die Kaserne von der britischen Besatzungsmacht genutzt, die sie Ripon Barracks nannte und bis 1994 dort Truppen stationiert hatte. Mit Abzug der Briten und Rückgabe an die deutschen Behörden hatte die militärische Nutzung des Areals ein Ende gefunden. Auf den Freiflächen wurden Eigenheime gebaut und die großen alten Gebäude sind jetzt die Heimat der Georg-Müller-Schule, einer fundamentalchristlichen Gesamtschule.
