On Ostwestfalenplatz square in Bielefeld, trees for each of Bielefeld's seven sister cities have been planted. Trees were chosen to be typical for the corresponding countries, and this is the tree for Rochdale, England. It is an English oak (Quercus robur). The twinning of Bielefeld and Rochdale was established in 1953.
