This sign is for the Eastern Cottonwood and is located at the entrance to the walking trail at Eagle Slough Natural Area. This is just north of the Indiana/Kentucky border and north of Ellis Park horse racing track.

The Eastern Cottonwood tree is now a native tree but was transferred here originally by pioneers. The cottonwood is a tall tree, easily reaching 100 feet tall and trunks are up to 8 feet around. The tree fruits with Catkin, which are what produces the cotton-like whisps that float through the air.
