The Schminck Memorial Museum is located in downtown Lakeview. From their website:

In 1845 and 1846, James Foster and Elizabeth Currier crossed the Oregon Trail as children, arriving in Oregon by different routes. They were married several years later. Lula, their youngest of 15 children, spent her early years on their cattle ranch at Summer Lake. In 1901 she married Dalpheus Schminck in Lakeview, where he clerked for over 50 years in a general mercantile store.

Dalph and Lula were avid collectors of pioneer artifacts, including her mother's lovely quilts. They gathered together more than 5,000 items. In 1948 Lula, a past Regent of Lake View Chapter, willed their bungalow in trust to the OSSDAR, as a museum. It was opened to the public by the Oregon Daughters in 1962. Elizabeth Currier Foster's quilts are featured in the NSDAR Museum Exhibit, "Bound for the West: Women and their Families on the Western Trail."

There is a historical marker located on the front porch to the museum and reads:

SCHMINCK MEMORIAL MUSEUM 1922 - Building constructed by Andy Underwood Contractor, as a residence for Dalpheus & Lula Schminck 1936 - First museum display exhibited in the basement. Eventually most of the house was devoted to museum display while they continued in residence. 1962 - Oregon DAR assumed trustee role as provided by Schminck wills. Varied collections represent many Lake County families, & the devotion of Mr. & Mrs. Schminck to the community and its history. PLAQUE COURTESY OF LAKE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY -1992-

There is another bronze plaque that hangs next to the front door and reads:

OREGON STATE SOCIETY OF THE NATIONAL SOCIETY DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION SCHMINCK MEMORIAL MUSEUM OPERATED UNDER TRUST ESTABLISHED BY MR & MRS. D. C. SCHMINCK LAKEVIEW OREGON PIONEERS IN RECOGNITION OF HISTORICAL, EDUCATIONAL, PATRIOTIC ENDEAVORS OF THIS SOCIETY PLAQUE PRESENTED BY EULALONA CHAPTER, OSSDAR 1970

There is also an anchor, a bell and a WWI era machine gun as static displays on the front porch of the museum. The museum was closed so I was not able to visit inside but from the pictures I saw on the museum's website, there are many Native American artifacts.
