In 1720 this Marktbrunnen (Marketfountain) was build in the center of Vellbers Oldtown. The fountain is made from cast iron. It shows the coat of arms from the nearby imperial town of Hall (today Schwäbisch Hall).Vellberg was part of the imperial town of Hall from 1596 to 1802. Beside the coat of arms from the imperial town of Hall you can find symbolic pictures of justice and good faith. In 1966 the fountain was restored. Especially the pillar in the middle was renewed. The pillar shows three faces, the faces of glutton, splurge and scrooge. At the dedication in 1966 there was the first time wine runing out of the fountain. Picking up this topic, since 1968 the Weinbrunnenfest was founded. At the first weekend of July every year Vellberg celebrates the "Weinbrunnenfest". At this weekend there is wine coming out of the fountain. The Weinbrunnenfest is quite famous and a lot of people visit Vellberg for this.
Seit 1720 steht der gusseiserne Marktbrunnen mit dem Wappen der Reichsstadt Hall neben dem ehemaligen Feuersee, früher auch als Viehtränke genutzt, in der Mitte des Städtchens Vellberg. Der Brunnen ist ein Dokument kommunaler Wasserversorgung aus der Haller Zeit. Vellberg gehörte von 1596 bis 1802 zur Reichsstadt Hall. Das Haller Wappen ist flankiert von den Reliefbildern der Gerechtigkeit und des Glaubens, bekrönt vom Reichsadler. 1966 wurde die Brunnensäule erneuert und mit aus Sandstein gehauenen Gesichtern des Schlemmers, des Prassers und des Geizhalses versehen. Zur damaligen Einweihung floss erstmals Wein aus dem Brunnen. Aus dieser Zeit stammt das fortan ab 1968 regelmäßig stattfindende Weinbrunnenfest. Dieses findet alljährlich am ersten Wochenende im Juli statt. Dann fließt aus dem Brunnen der Wein und findet bei den Festbesuchern guten Zuspruch.
