The Greenwood Cemetery was established by Preston Taylor in 1888 to provide a cemetery for the African American at a reasonable cost. The cemetery was built on 37 acres. On his death he left the cemetery to the National Christian Missionary Convention of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where it continues to operate today. The cemetery has several thousand graves.
