The 4449 was built in 1941 by the Lima Locomotive Works of Lima, Ohio for the Southern Pacific Railroad. Spent the 1940's and early 1950's pulling the famous Daylight Passenger Trains between Los Angeles, CA and Portland, OR until it was retired by Southern Pacific in 1957. Donated to The City of Portland in 1958.
