This water tower is located just northeast of the intersection of Hancock and Main Streets, just north of the railroad tracks on the north edge of Macksville, Kansas.

Macksville is a typical agricultural community on the plains of Kansas. The population is approximately 600 people whose primary purpose is to supply the farmers in the surrounding area and maintain a grain elevator for storage prior to shipment via the railroad.
