The Eveleth Manual Training School was built in 1914 and was the first vocational school established in Minnesota. It was designed to train those entering the local iron mining industry. The prairie school style building is enhanced with a diamond pattern in the Menominee pressed brick; the name of the school and date are carved in relief, centered in the top front of the building. The building cost $60,000 to build and offered elementary wood-working, a drafting room, printing, and a mill shop to help teach boys to be mechanics, machinists, and vehicle operators. The building contains a fallout shelter and claims to be fireproof.
