This speeder was manufactured by Fairmont Railway Motors Ltd. in Toronto ON. It is belt driven and has a single cylinder, water cooled engine of approx 6-8 hp. All the other railway equipment on display there is from CN, so this may have been from Canadian National, as well.

Attached to the speeder is a small flatcar, which would have been very handy for hauling the linemen's tools and supplies while out on the line. Built specially for the harsh conditions of a Canadian prairie winter, this speeder is fully enclosed. In BC, for example, very few, if any, of the speeders were enclosed.

It is assumed that Fairmont Railway Motors Ltd. of Toronto, ON is a Canadian subsidiary of Fairmont Railway Motors Inc., of Fairmont, Minnesota.

For the gearheads amongst us, the museum has an extensive collection of agricultural implements, tractors, both steam and gasoline, and carriages, cars and trucks. It's pretty easy to spend a whole day wandering around this museum, and well worth the time. Check them out here: (visit link)
