Thor Heyerdahl made sevral expeditions to prove that it was possible for early peoples to make voyagers across the seas using simple materials. For example, Kon-Tiki was the raft used in a 1947 expedition across the Pacific Ocean from South America to the Polynesian islands. That raft is now in the Museum it is named after. The Ra and Tigris reed rafts are also on display as well as many other books and onjects relating to Heyerdahl's journeys.
