This sledding hill is a great, wide slope where people can choose the 'difficulty' by position at the top, and slide down to the flat football field, below.

In Needham, at Memorial Field, is a wide hill face in front of Needham High School that is a good, moderate sledding slope.

Memorial Field is located about halfway between downtown Needham and Needham Heights. The best parking is at the top of the hill, at a lot to the northwest of the school entrance. From Webster Street, go down Kingsbury Street to the entrance road to the school. From Highland Avenue or May Street, take Oakdale Ave to Kingsbury Street to the entrance. There is also a parking lot at the corner of Rosemary Street and Highland Avenue - HOWEVER - Rosemary Street is one way going WEST, so you MUST approach from Webster Street.

All along the crest of the hill is the access road from Kingsbury Street. The road gradually climbs so that the height from where you start varies 20 ft from end to high point. The base is the football field, which is now fully artificial grass. In the past, the football field was ringed with a cinder track - so in low snow conditions, landing got a little rough. Now, it's no problem! Vertical height varies from about 10 ft at the low end to about 30 ft at the high end, thus, you can choose the level of 'difficulty' for your run. The run on the hill at the high point is about 180 ft, and you have a width of a football field to coast from there. So, the entire run is about 200-300 ft from the highest point.
Also, along much of the hill is a flattening of the slope about halfway down.

There are light posts at the base of the hill. They do have padding tied to them. Still, I would steer clear of them.
