"O Mosteiro de São Martinho de Manhente do qual restam apenas a chamada Torre de Manhente e a Igreja Matriz de Manhente.

O mosteiro foi fundado por D. Pedro Afonso Dorraes e sua esposa D. Gotinha Oeris, tendo passado depois à sua filha D. Teresa Pires casada que foi com D. Ramiro Aires, Nobre e Rico-homem do Condado Portucalense e um dos primeiros a usar o nome de família Carpinteiros.

A igreja tem feições românicas (e mesmo elementos pré-românicos). Uma inscrição epigráfica de 1117 refere que o mestre de obras teria sido "Gundisalvus magister" (Mestre Gonçalo).

Do ponto de vista artístico destaca-se o portal constituído por três arcos de volta perfeita decorados com formas geométricas.

A torre tem planta quadrangular, e terá servido de atalaia defensiva.

Encontram-se classificados como Monumento Nacional pelo Decreto nº 2166, de 24 de dezembro de 1915."

"The Monastery of Saint Martin of Manhente which remains only the tower and the Church of Manhente Manhente.

The monastery was founded by D. Pedro Afonso Dorraes and his wife D. Gotinha Oeris, after having passed to his daughter D. Teresa Pires who was married with D. Ramiro Aires, Noble and Rich-man of the Condado Portucalense and one of the first to use the family name Carpenters.

The church has Romanesque features (and even pre-Romanesque elements). An inscription epigraphic of 1117 states that the foreman was "Gundisalvus magister" (Master Gonçalo).

From the artistic point of view highlights the portal consists of three round arches decorated with geometric shapes.

The tower is quadrangular, and has served as a defensive watchtower.

They are classified as a National Monument by Decree No. 2166, of December 24, 1915. "
