This memorial to the Great War is located against the south east face of St John the Evangelist church in Islington. The memorial is to the right of the main entrance doorway.

The war memorial, 1914-1919, is carved
from Portland stone and has Carrara panels and was sculpted by M & R Moore.
The memorial is a crucifix above a plinth that carries the inscriptions.
Immediately below the cross and at the top of the plinth is a relief sculpture
showing a battle scene and wreaths. In the wreaths is carved, in relief,
"The / sacrifice / was for / us".
At the top of the centre panel is
carved, "Of Your Charity / Pray for the Repose of / the Souls of".
Beneath, and on the side panels, are carved the names of the fallen. At the
bottom of the centre panel is carved, "May They Rest in
Peace".
Beneath the centre panel is inscribed:
"This figure of Jesus crucified was erected / by Richard Moore in memory of
his son / and other members of this congregation / who fell in the Great War /
1914 - 1919".
