This piece of Ponderosa Pine is found in the Dos Chappell Nature Center on the Mount Evans Scenic Roadway. While the Nature Center is free of charge, there is a fee to stop and park at any of the facilities on the road (the road is free to drive - but you may not stop). The center is accessible from roughly May to September. (visit link)

The tree started its life in 1625. The tree was cut down in 1975.
