From marker on site:
Romans Cottage Circa 1870
Roman's Cottage is made of two cottages. The were originally separate cottages side by side on Buckingham Street but the one facing Merioneth Street was shifted and joined to the other circa 1910. This was done by George Henry Romans, the local butcher and for 60 years this was the Romans family home. The building was in a serious state of decay before being bought by the Queenstown Lakes District Council in 2007 and restored by the Arrowtown Trust.
The cottage is now a shop.
