This historical home was built sometime between 1902-08 by Mr. Hugh Kendall, a local mine engineer and superintendent. The original exterior was clapboard. Following the death of his wife in 1912, Mr. Kendall sold the home to Mr. Coates who built an addition and covered the exterior with stucco.

This beautiful residential home was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. It can be found on the 800 block of S. 5th Avenue, and there is a NRHP plaque on the red front door.
