Auburn Depot (CM0673) - Auburn, AL - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

There has been a train depot at this location since 1847, although the current building dates to 1904. It is located on Mitcham Avenue, between North College Street and North Gay Street. The mark was outlined by paint when I saw it. One parks on the street side and walks around to the rear, keeping in mind that this is still an active track. The coordinates from the geocaching page pointed across the tracks from the building, so I took my own for this listing.

AT AUBURN, SET VERTICALLY IN THE SOUTH FACE OF THE SOUTH WALL OF THE WESTERN RAILWAY OF ALABAMA STATION, ABOUT 125 YARDS EAST OF THE CROSSING OF THE RAILWAY AND COLLEGE STREET, 20.4 FEET NORTH OF THE NORTH RAIL, 18.7 FEET EAST OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE STATION MASTERS OFFICE, 4.7 FEET ABOVE THE LEVEL OF A BLACK TOPPED SIDEWALK, AND ABOUT 5 FEET ABOVE THE LEVEL OF THE TRACK.
