In Narragansett, at a place called Memorial Square, is an installation of war memorials with a sundial in the center.
The square is located at the intersection of Matthewson Street and Exchange Place, and is across the street from the post office. The square is an arrangement of war monuments, with the sundial along the concrete sidewalk. The sundial is a raised circular surface covered in square flagstones, with an angular metal piece placed on the surface. Also embedded in the surface are metal disks, each with a logo of the a branch in the armed services. Surrounding the sundial are arched benches.
Memorial Square was created in 1950 to honor local people who served in past wars. I am guessing that the sundial was created at the same time.
Sundial Type: Horizontal - Flat base, Ground or Pedestal mounted dial plate
