In Narragansett, at the intersection of Exchange Place and Mathewson Street, is an arrangement of war memorials dedicated to the citizens of Narragansett who served during a conflict. One of the memorials is to the soldiers of World War II.
The arrangement is at the corner of Mattewson Street and Exchange Place and is across the street from the post office. From the intersection, walk along the path, first to a sundial feature, then straight to the monument.
The monument has a central feature and two wings in stone. The central feature has a bronze relief of a soldier, who is standing ready, looking to the right and with a gun in his hands. Above the head and along the inside of the arc is the text: "Narragansett Roll of Honor World War II - 1940 1945." The sculptor's mark is at the soldier's feet. The section to the right and left contain names of those who served. There are 227 names listed. Some have stars, which, I assume, marks those who died in conflict. On the right plaque, a name appears to have been added after the plaque was cast.
The sculptor was Florence Brevoort Kane, and the founder was the Gorham Manufacturing Company.

I am guessing, but considering the population of Narragansett, I believe that the list of names is for people who served in the war, with the stars next to the name marking those who died in the conflict.
