This mural is beginning to become overrun by vegetation, and the color is beginning to fade a bit, but it is still pretty and nice to view at the corner of Kountz Rd and E 1st St, in Whitehall, Montana.
Here are the words on the mural:
The Corps of Discovery
"Capt Clark continued his route early this morning, the rapidity of the current was such that his progess was slow..." Merriwether Lewis, August 2, 1805
"at 11 AM, Dreyer killed a doe and we halted about 2 hours and breakfasted and then continued our route untill night without halting." Meriwether Lewis, August 3, 1805
"have either got my foot bitten by some poisinous insect or a tumer is rising on the inner bone of my ankle which is painful" William Clark, August 2, 1805
"The River has this day run more rapid, and the Rapids much longer, than any we had yet seen, which fataigued our Men exceedingly". Joseph Whitehouse, Aug 3, 1805.
