One of many fur-trading routes, this was used from the mid-nineteenth century until after 1900. Furtraders, hunters and explorers making 1450 kilometer trek from from Fort Garry (Winnipeg) to Fort Edmonton. Later it was also linked to Fort Qu'Appelle and the Touchwood Hills Hudson Bay Company posts with settlements.
