Mr. Edwin Dando Hoskins, a Welsh immigrant set to settle this area by establishing a post office and stoppng house for travellers near this spot soon after his arrival in 1908. The area inspired him to call it Glaslyn after his home in Glaslyn Lake and Glaslyn Valley in Wales.
Canadian National Railway established extended service in 1925. In 1929 it was established as a village bearing that name.
