I located this benchmark after seeing it listed on a topography map as BM 4251. The benchmark is in great shape although the original wooden witness post has burned from a fire that spread through the area in 2005.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1954 8.1 MI SE FROM INDIAN WELLS. 5.9 MILES SOUTHEAST ALONG A PAVED ROAD FROM THE INDIAN WELLS RANGER STATION, THENCE 2.2 MILES SOUTHEAST ALONG A DIRT ROAD, IN A LARGE OPEN FLAT, 34 FEET NORTHWEST OF AN 8-INCH PINE TREE WITH A WHITE CROSS PAINTED ON IT, 32 1/2 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE ROAD, 1.7 FEET NORTHWEST OF A WITNESS POST, ABOUT 1 FOOT HIGHER THAN THE ROAD, AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 0.8 FOOT ABOVE THE GROUND.
