I located this benchmark after seeing it listed on a topography map as BM 4236. The benchmark is in great shape and was buried under a couple of inches of dirt and pine needles.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1954 9 MI SE FROM INDIAN WELLS. 5.9 MILES SOUTHEAST ALONG A PAVED ROAD FROM THE INDIAN WELLS RANGER STATION, THENCE 3.1 MILES SOUTHEAST ALONG A DIRT ROAD, 7.9 MILES WEST OF PEREZ, IN THE TOP OF THE SOUTH END OF A 12- BY 6-FOOT ROCK OUTCROP, 32 1/2 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE ROAD, 14 1/2 FEET NORTHEAST OF A LONE 24-INCH PINE TREE, 4 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE SOUTHEAST END OF THE OUTCROP, ABOUT 4 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND, AND ABOUT 1 FOOT HIGHER THAN THE ROAD.
