The Quarters 16 building was constructed in 1896 to serve as the post commander's quarters. The building is a 2-1/2 story red brick single family house. The building served as the post commander's residence until 1948 when it became the home of the Comnander in Chlef, Strategic Air Commmand, and now the U.S. Strategic Command.
This building is located on an active US Air Force Base. Access to the base is restricted and is easiest accessed by active duty, retired, or reserve service members or while accompanied by an individual in that status. Occasionally there are other times when the base has more open status during the year for various events.
