This trailhead is found at the Chicago Lake Lookout near the Summit Lake Park area. This is the shortest route to the summit of Mt. Evans being only 2 miles - though at a very high altitude and with ever-changing weather challenges. As with any high altitude hike, always prepare for sudden changes in weather and wildlife. You are visiting the wild animals home, so please be careful and do not feed or tease the animals. I did not hike the day I was here since it was September and a storm was coming in. Websites with information on the hike include: (

One may want to investigate and purchase the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Search and Rescue (CORSAR) Card. I always carry one just in case I do need a rescue and do not want a $30,000 bill! (
