Capitol Hill High School was constructed in 1928 and is still in use today. To the west of the school, the C.B. Speegle Stadium is illuminated and was preparing to host a game at the time of our visit.

C.B. Speegle II was a 1930s graduate of this school. He returned to coach in 1941 and except for three years service during WWII, he coached from 1941 to 1978. He was the head football coach from 1951-1969 and 1972-1974, leading the Redskins to a state championship in 1957 and 1958. This stadium was the venue for the first integrated football game in Oklahoma - Capitol Hill vs. Douglass, in 1955.

The stadium has a large set of bleachers on the south side, with a smaller set on the north. A blacktop track encircles the field. Surrounding the field is an 8 ft. high native sandstone wall which was a WPA project in 1940. On the east side of the stadium, a 10 ft. high white stone wall (also WPA) houses the four ticket booths.

The Capitol Hill Redskins play 5A ball in District 1, which also includes Chickasha, MacArthur, Duncan, Del City, Southeast, Ardmore and Altus. For an aerial view of the stadium (visit link)
