Lord Canterville has rented Canterville Hall to an American family. The hall is haunted by Sir Simon Canterville who clanks chains and leaves bloodstains on the hearth.
The daughter of the house, Ginny, wants to go home and pesters her father to leave. When the ghost appears the father thinks it is one of his daughters pranks and dismisses the ghost as such. Ginny eventually meets the ghost and befriends him. She tries to free Sir Simon of his curse.
Most of the action is within the house, but there are some scenes outside. The clips show the arrival of Lord Canterville at the hall and his being met by the butler.
