The first Mass in Panna Maria was celebrated on 24 Dec 1854 under a giant Live Oak tree that still stands today on the church grounds. Two years later residents had built the first building that would house the Church of the Immaculate Conception. When that first church building burned in 1875, the residents of Panna Maria rebuilt their humble building with a fine new church building. This building was completed in 1877, and still serves the faithful around Panna Maria today.
