Elk Mountain is a small outdoor recreation oriented community named after the most prominent geographic feature in the area. Its economy depends mainly on those who come to experience the great outdoors, the beautiful scenery, or just as a stopoff on a long trip to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National parks.
The inclusion of Elk Mountain (the geographical feature) in the background and an Elk in the foreground graphically illustrate the name of the town and the main reasons for its current existence.
