A companion to this FIRST waymark is located in Tobermory at the tip of the Bruce Peninsula and near the end of the Bruce Trail, It pays tribute to the Griffon, La Salle and the courageous adventurers who first forged the links between the old and the new worlds.
The plaque was placed here in 1979, the 300th anniversary of the Griffon’s first (and last) voyage although it is doubtful that the Griffon ever came close to the tip of the Bruce. While there are a lot of wrecks here the Griffon isn’t likely one of them as it’s believed to be in Lake Michigan.
