This 1897, predominantly brick built building, was probably constructed for the same purpose as it is used for today - a public house/hotel. It is located between Waterloo and Waterloo East railway stations and very clsoe to the bridge carrying the rails from Charing Cross station to Waterloo East. The bridge, carrying the rails, is just a few metres from the hotels north wall (see photos).
The building is what some may describe as quirky. It is built on five floors with the fifth floor being an octagonal turret that must allow spectacular views along the railway tracks if you are into that sort of thing. To the south of the turret is a fancy wall made from brick and stone. The lower stone feature displays a coat-of-arms, probably Wellington's, and the stone cap has the date stone.
