Steven Juba Park Steven Juba Park was developed for the enjoyment of present and future generations of Winnipeg citizens and named in honour of the city's longest serving mayor. First elected mayor of the City of Winnipeg in October, 1956. Stephen Juba served continually until his retirement in November 1977. During this period of public service, Stevben Juba was a strong advocate of major downtown park development and was instrumental in encouraging the development of a linear riverbank park. This park is dedicated to Stephen Juba in recognition of his leadership in making this park a reality and of his many lasting contributions and untiring effort to improve the quality of life of the citizens of Winnipeg.
