In Boston's Beacon Hill neighborhood, along Joy Street, is the Appalachian Mountain Club headquarters, with a flag hanging out the front door.

From Beacon Street and Park Street (the Massachusetts State House), walk west on Beacon Street to Joy Street a couple blocks down, turn right and walk on Joy Street to the HQ on the left.
The flag is mounted on the building, which is a few degrees tilted up from horizontal. The flag is angled further from that. The design on the flag is oriented down the length of the flag, more like a vertical banner. The field. in green, is dominated by the circular logo, in white, of a tree and a mountain with a trail traversing its face and the initials, A-M-C. The words, "Appalachian Mountain Club" and "Est. 1876" are below the logo.
From their web site, outdoors.org, the mission of the AMC is, "The Appalachian Mountain Club promotes the protection, enjoyment, and understanding of the mountains, forests, waters, and trails of the Appalachian region." The club has over 100,000 members, 450 full and seasonal staff, and 16,000 volunteers to maintain the Appalachian Mountain Trail and other trails, their cabins in Maine and New Hampshire, and promote issues relevant to preserving natural resources. They claim to be "the nation’s oldest outdoor recreation and conservation organization." There are 12 chapters, all located in New England and Mid-Atlantic states. The web site has links to them all.
